MailMessage QuotedPrintable Encoding RRS feed

  • Question

  • In the MailMessage class, there seems to be a bug with quoted-printable transfer encoding and html versions.  The lines are supposed to only be 76 characters long but they are much longer which causes some spam filters to score the email higher.  A little bit of searching on the web revealed that this has been a known issue since the .NET 2.0 release or even earlier.  I am using .NET 3.5 SP1 and it's still not working correctly.

Is this ever going to be fixed or should I abandon MailMessage in favor of another solution?

    Thanks.

  • This old feedback article is active again with a very recent response.  This one too.  Looks promising for .NET 4.0

  • Thanks Hans.  Do you know when the 4.0 beta is due out?  I haven't found a release date anywhere.  I would expect the fix to be part of 4.0 since I took a look at their code in reflector and it looks like it should be a pretty easy fix.

  • If I knew, I wouldn't be able to tell.  When it's done.
