problem editng workitems using VSTS2010 pointing to TFS 2012 RRS feed

  • Question

  • We recently upgraded our TFS server to 2012 but due to hardware limitations I am still on VSTS 2010 pro with the 2012 compatability patch applied.

When  I make modifications to work item type of Bug. I am getting the the following error message:

Failed to save the 'Bug" Work Item Type to the server.

TF223006: You cannot modify the definition of a work item tracking object with your version of command-line tools as they are not compatible with the Web services for Team Foundation Server. Contact your system administrator to determine how to upgrade your installation of Team Explorer to a version compatible with Team Foundation Server

    Thank you for an help,

    Mike

  • Hi Mike,

    Thanks for your post!

You need to use the same version of VSTS and TFS. You need to upgrade your VSTS to 2012 with Team Explorer 2012.

    Hope it helps!
