VS 2019 pro installation error - unable to download channel manifest RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

Through my work, I received a product key, license account num, and authorization key for VS 2019 professional. Here is what has happened thus far...

    1. Tried to install, didn't work because of error "unable to download the channel manifest from 'https://aka.ms/vs/16/release/channel.'"

    2. Checked our firewalls/security settings; nothing indicating the URL was being blocked.

3.Ran "InstallCleanup.exe -full" through command prompt and tried to installed; still same issue

    4. Manually deleted all programdata and programx86 visual studio folders and tried to installed; still same issue

    5. Cached the installation files and pushed to the computer; still same issue

    6. Contacted license support and they directed me to this website...

    Can any one help?

  • Hi Lsanchezartu,

    Welcome to the MSDN forum.

According to your description, I have something to confirm with you. Which way you used? Web-installation or offline-installation?

    >> Checked our firewalls/security settings; nothing indicating the URL was being blocked.

    ## I suggest you turn off your any anti-virus  software during installation. You could go to Windows Security center and try to deactivate the Firewall & network protection.

In addition, when installing, please make sure you are in a stable internet environment.

I recommend you try to the download the offline installation on another computer with good internet connection. And then copy it to your local computer to install. You could refer to the link and install the workloads you want.

BTW, if the issue persists, I need your help to collect more installation log. Please download and run this collect.exe tool, go to %temp% folder and find the vslogs.zip file, upload it to https://onedrive.live.com/ and share the link in here. Please clean up the personal information like Cookies and Password before you share your log.

Hope all above will help you and any feedback will be expected.

    Best Regards,

    Anna

  • Hi Lsanchezartu,

    Sorry to disturb you.

In addition to Anna’s suggestion, you could try to connect to this link: https://aka.ms/vs/16/release/channel to download the .chman file manually and then try to install VS 2019 again.

If you could not connect to the link above, I consider there might be something wrong with your network, maybe the configuration or some applications like firewall affect the connection. I’m afraid you might need to check again and stop or adding corresponding permission.

If you could download well and still could not install VS 2019, we need you help to collect the setup log file like Anna said above to check.

BTW, not sure if you download Visual Studio from the official website, if not you could try to download from this official website.

    Hope this could help you.

    Sincerely,

    Tianyu
