Shape.ID RRS feed

  • Question

  • in the MSDN library:
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/microsoft.office.interop.excel.shape.id(VS.80).aspx

     it says:
    Shape.ID Property
Returns the type for the specified object. Read-only Integer.

    Then later it says:
You can use an ID label as a hyperlink reference in other HTML documents or on the same Web page.

In my code, if I check the ID of several shapes that are absolutely the same "type" (e.g. copies of each other) their shape.ID is different!  Is the ID a unique identifier for the individual shape within the workbook?

Thanks, any insight would be greatly appreciated.

  • You'd have to ask in the Excel.Programming newsgroup exactly what this property is meant to do and how it differs from the Name property, but yes, I'd say ID is a unique value and wouldn't be the same for copied shapes.
