Select Build Definition in a Component or in a Release Template is not working

  • Hi,

I am using InRelease and TFS 2012

The TFS Connection is working and I already have a build definition for TFS 2012 InRelease. The InRelease User has all rights needed (the most important on Make requests on behalf of others for all my collections) and the minimum rights for the collection i am working with.

The only thing is, I can not see any team project or build definitions when selecting build definition in a Component or in a Release Template.

    Do you have any ideea?

  • Hi Ioana,

In order for InRelease to be able to display information from TFS, it performs the requests on your behalf (in fact, on behalf of the user logged into InRelease). The account identity you configure in a TFS Connection profile is the one used to connect to TFS, but it is not its data that is shown. It is the data for the user logged into InRelease. That is, all TFS security applies. So, the user who is trying to select a build definition must have permissions to view it.

Does your user have all permissions to access those team projects and therefore the corresponding build definitions?

  • Hi Leo,

yes the InRelease User has all rights on the BuildDefinition. Every time I try to set the team project or build definition the error comes in event viewer:

I have the same problem now, I can not select any Build Definition. My User, which is loged in at Release Management is also TFS Admin. I can edit the build definitions and so on.

All works at release management, only select the build definition is not working now.

I hope somebody can help me !

Thanks Horst MOSS 2007 Farm; MOSS 2010 Farm; TFS 2010; IIS 7.5

  • I have the exact same issue as well. The Build Definition edit window shows nothing for Team Project and Build Definition. This worked fine before applying the latest update 2.

Sorry for the hijack... i opened my own question.
