Video resolution issues with IIS Smooth Streaming RRS feed

  • Question

  • User268271055 posted

How can I set it on Smooth Streaming, the default output is 360P resolution, and I can find that 1080P is not necessary when I run it on the mobile phone, which causes a waste of broadband.
If so, is there a parameter setting that allows the video to manually select and output the resolution you want?

    Hi q5803306,

According to your description, we could set the resolution of video in the Expression Encoder. When we use Expression Encoder

to push a stream to the live smooth streaming publishing point,  on the Presets tab, we could choose an encoding preset that supports the bit rates and encoding requirements for your Live Smooth Streaming scenario.

    You could see as below:

Here is the link ,I hope it could help you.

followed the tutorial, but I found that I had to set up a video file, and I should do real-time resolution transcoding without changing the source format, such as mkv or rmvb. In addition, if I have thousands of videos, what should I do? I have to save more than a thousand files in advance to a low-resolution version.

In addition, I would like to ask how the streaming service can realize real-time dialogue.

    Hi q5803306,

According to your description,IIS Smooth Streaming hasn't provided any functions to change the resolution of video in real-time. In fact, I think it belongs to some core technologies. It seems impossible for us to use just some modules on iis to realize the function.

By the way if you want to change resolution in real-time,it means you should compress files in real time. However , in normal we I have just set the video resolution and then compress it,so we have multiply video source and we could change the source of different resolution in real-time.
