How to submit graphic WU driver for Win10 IoT 2016 LTSB OS? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi MS support team:

Our project need shipping Win10 Client OS and Win10 IoT OS, they have same 4-Hardware ID but different CHID.

And we have submit Client OS graphic WU driver before Aug 2018, use 2ID+CHID for distribution. (Version: 22.20.16.4836)

Got info from MS, ODM can't use CHID for graphic WU submission, only can use 4ID from Aug 2018.

Currently, customer want to submit different version graphic WU driver for Win10 IoT OS, may we know how to control this? Who can deal the request? IHV or ODM or OEM?

Would you please help come up solution to slove the problem?

BTW, we didn't find Win10 IoT OS list separately in mMS DEV "Operation System" column, only have Win10 Client OS and Server OS? So we want to confirm with you that whetehr Win10 IoT OS included in Win10 Client version OS or Windows Server OS?

    Expecting your feedback.

    Thank you very much.

  • Hello Star_xu,

You need to request OEM whether they can accept the submission.

Windows IoT OS includes Windows IoT Core , Windows IoT Enterprise, and Windows Server IoT 2019.Windows 10 IoT Enterprise is a full version of Windows 10 that delivers enterprise manageability and security to IoT solutions. Windows 10 IoT Enterprise shares all the benefits of the world-wide Windows ecosystem. It is a binary equivalent to Windows 10 Enterprise, so you can use the same familiar development and management tools as client PCs and laptops.

    Best Regards,

    Michael

  • Dear Michael:

    Thank you for your feedback.

Our customer need submit for Windows IoT 2016 LTSB OS, but we can't see Windows IoT OS list in MS DEV "Operation system" column, so we want to confirm with you that whether "Windows 10 Client version xxxx" contain "Win10 IoT OS"? Or Intel will resell separate kit for "Win10 IoT OS"?

  • Hello Star_xu,

Windows 10 Client version contains Win10 IoT OS(Windows 10 IoT Core and Windows 10 IoT Enterprise). But Windows IoT OS includes special features for IoT solution, and supports not only PC but also other devices, such as Raspberry Pi, Dragonboard, MinnowBoard, iMX and so on.

Intel provides separate support for Windows IoT OS.You minght see this portal(https://software.intel.com/en-us/iot/tools-ide/windows-10).

    Best Regards,

    Michael

  • Dear Michael:

    Below is our platform problem~

EPSON and Pegatron did not distribute graphic WU driver for Windows IoT OS, but system will auto update new graphic driver v25.20.100.6323, may we know whether it's Intel general WU driver with 2HWID published for Win10 IoT OS, is my guess right?

    Phenomenon:

After installing Window IOT OS, before connect to internet, we installed graphic driver: 22.20.16.4836.

After perform Windows Update, graphic driver will be updated to 25.20.100.6323.

    Config:

    Platform: Kaby Lake U22

    2-Hardware ID: PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_5916

OS: Windows IoT 2016 LTSB(RS1 base)

  • Hello, Michael

This is Hiroshi Hidaka in ESPON.
Thank you for your reply to Star-san.

For example, please imagine following scenario.
We have Win10 Client OS and Win10 IoT OS model and these models have same 4HWID.
In other word, these models have difference in terms of SMBIOS setting only.
Our product with IoT OS is sold for specific use such as signage, so E/U dislike to update drivers automatically.
We would like to control driver distribution separate Client OS and IoT OS, and
we wouldl like to distribute updated drivers to Client OS only when OS major update and issue fix.
But MS don't allow CHID distribution about graphics drivers,
so distribution setting of video drivers for Client OS with 4HWID is also applied to IoT OS model.
We are very in trouble. Do you have any solution?
