setup and launch Visual Studio 8 RRS feed

  • Question

  • How do you setup and launch Studio 8?

Downloaded and expanded files fiVS10sp1-KB983509  and VS2010TrainingKitDecember2011.Setup. Install created Microsoft Visual Studio 8 and 12.0 folders on SetupC:\Program Files (x86).

Can't find the launch icon, setup guidance nor an execute command in any of the folders created.

Similarly downloaded the 2010 and 2013 versions yesterday and spent half a day without success. Ended up resetting the computer to an earlier boot. (Not really smart enough to complain at this point.)

Presently running Windows 7 Pro  on Intel Core 7 930 @2.8 GHz; 2,048 MB ram @400ns, and 786 GB free disk space out of a total of 931GB.

Trying to learn VB/msql to create forms and drill down DBs on the cheap.

Can you provide instruction a newby can get its head around?

    Thank you.

  • Hi artjnewby,

    >>How do you setup and launch Studio 8?

Visual Studio 8 seems it is VS 2005. But now the download center of microsoft doesn't offer the installation file for VS 2005. If you have the related MSDN subscription, you could download it from MSDN.

VS10sp1-KB983509 seems it is VS 2010 sp1. VS2010TrainingKitDecember2011.Setup seems it is Training Kit. These are not about VS 2005. And these are not the installation file for VS2010. So, you can't use them to install VS 2010.

Please share the link to see if the download file is correct for the installation file of VS.

First you could download VB 2010 express to install it.

If you want to create winform project, you also could install VS express 2013 for windows desktop form the links.
