Report Wizard missing in VS2019 RRS feed

  • Question

  • In VS2019 when I go Add New Item I do not see the options for Report or Report Wizard. I have downloaded and installed the Report viewer so I am not sure what I am missing.

    Thanks.

  • Hi J-Bal,

    Welcome to MSDN forum.

You could follow this video Download and Install Report Viewer For Visual Studio 2019 and check if you have miss something.

#1. Open VS -> Extensions -> Manage Extensions -> enter “Report Viewer” in the search box -> search and find then download “Microsoft RDLC Report Designer”.

#2. After downloading -> close VS IDE and let the VSIX Installer install it -> choose Modify -> Close.

#3. Restart VS -> create a new project -> right-click the project -> choose Add -> New Item -> Under “Visual C# Items” scroll down and you won’t miss “Report/Report Wizard”.

If you have done all above and you still could not find the “Report/Report Wizard”, you could try suggestions below to troubleshoot.

#1. Please try to repair Visual Studio in Visual Studio Installer -> Find VS 2019 -> More -> Repair.

#2. Actually, my VS has installed “SQL Server Data Tools” components in VS Installer|VS 2019|Individual components.(Not sure if this affects it)

BTW, this thread is old but maybe helpful for you to refer to: Reporting Template is missing in Visual Studio 2015 Preview

Hope all above could help you and any feedback will be expected.

    Best Regards,

    Tianyu
