We have to deactivate one test configuration. How can we do it in browser or 'Visual studio', please RRS feed

  • Question

  • Test cases are added twice to the test suite because we have two test configurations.

    1. Open TFS in browser
    2. Click Test
    3. Click 'Add existing'
    4. Search for test case
    5. Mark the test case
    6. Click 'Add test cases'

Actual: two test cases are added

Expected: one test case is added

What we have to do - deactivate one test configuration. How can we do it in browser or 'Visual studio', please?

  • Hi Pierre,

It seems that plan has 2 configuration assigned.

    This is simple in MTM.

For that test cases would add later to add once and not twice, simply in plan properties remove second configuration or deselect it as default and remain one.

For existing doubled test cases, in plan select test case(s), click configuration, in configuration assignment window, select test case(s), open configuration drop down in one row, uncheck unnecessary config and remain just one.

  • Hi Pierre Stoiko,

    Thanks for your post.

Could you please tell me what's the version of your TFS?

    >>Test cases are added twice to the test suite because we have two test configurations.

This is correct. Generally if you assigned two configurations to one test case. The test cases will be treated as two different test cases. So it will show two record under test tab in both MTM and TFS web Access.

But if you want to only show the one record, I suggest you could add a new test suite, and in new Test suite, add existing test case to add this case, it will show one record even it has two configurations.

Not quite understand your requirement, did you want to delete one test configuration in TFS web access?

I can't find the way to delete the configuration in TFS web client.  Why not using Microsoft Test manager? It is convenient to manage the test case. Also it supports to manage the test configurations.

    Best Regards,
