WCF with a message parameter RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

    I have a simply method in my WCF service like:

    public void SendData(MyMessageType message) {   ... }

    where MyMessageType has a Header and a Body, the Body portion is used as a base class for lots of different messages.

    When I add a reference to this service from the client end it generates a bunch of classes etc... and in these class it has generated its own stubs for the MyMessageTye and all the possible body types, rather than simply referencing the assembly.

    The interface to the service rarely changes but the MyMessages assembly changes more often, so I would really like ship a generated client assembly alongside the message assembly, and not have the service generate the message stubs.  Can someone explain how I can do this without manually altering all the generated classes?

    Hope that makes sense.
