Write your code here RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • I am not sure "// Write your code here" comment on every method has any value. If a user does not know this, they are probably in the wrong place. For the rest of us, it is another line to delete on every single method. For something like this if you think it is needed, VS should support some kind of grey "Ghost" comment that appears only under certain conditions (i.e. no user lines) and disapears otherwise. I could see something like that as more useful in general for code hints and quickstart sample code.

  • Hi William,

I recall much discussion on whether to include the comments. Personally I find them a bit annoying, but our usability gurus won out.

I know that when I write topics that contain code I have to be careful about specifying exactly where that code needs to be pasted. You would think it would be obvious, but you can't assume anything.

I like the suggestion of "ghost" comments. You should enter a suggestion on Connect - it's something that wouldn't be hard to implement.
