  • Hi,

    Welcome to MSDN forum.

Please update visual studio 2017 to the latest version from visual studio installer.

It it doesn't work, check the existing of the mscoree.dll. Go to the folder “%windir%\system32\” and find the mscoree.dll, it should be existing.

Open regedit.exe and navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\VisualStudio\14.0_Config\Packages\{00cd9dda-7350-457c-a240-71bd667fc4de}. After that, see if the "InprocServer32" entry exists with the value “C:\windows\system32\mscoree.dll”. If not, please back up the registry table and modify it and change the value to the correct one.

    Best regards,

    Joyce

  • Hi

The registry key 14.0_Config does not exist under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\VisualStudio\

The only key there is "15.9"

    Thursday, April 4, 2019 11:32 AM
  • Hi friend,

Sorry for the inconvenience, the key is for visual studio 2015.

    https://developercommunity.visualstudio.com/content/problem/36617/on-start-up-no-inprocserver32-registered-error-vis.html

Please follow the cleanup steps and retry VS install

    • See if you have this file on your machine: "%programfiles(x86)%\Microsoft Visual Studio\Installer\resources\app\layout\InstallCleanup.exe"
    • Start an admin command prompt
      • Right-click on cmd.exe and select Run AsAdministrator
    • If so, please launch it from an admin command prompt with a -full param
      • InstallCleanup.exe -full
    • If not, please manually delete the "%programfiles(x86)%\Microsoft Visual Studio\Installer” folder
    • Verify that your initial install location for VS is removed.  If it is not, delete it manually.
    • Relaunch the newly downloaded vs_enterprise.exe (or vs_professional.exe or vs_community.exe…)
    • Allow the first step to install the installer
    • Once the installer comes up and you can see workload choices (.net desktop and the like), close it
    • Go launch the same InstallCleanup.exe to clean up old build of VS
    • Then relaunch vs_enterprise.exe and install VS

Please let us know if this unblocks you.

    Best regards,

    Joyce
