NuGet Package manager install problems RRS feed

  • Question

  • I manually downloaded the NuGet package manager (VSIX) file, but when I install, I get a message about a locked file. I rebooted the machine (Win7SP1 64 bit) and did an install as soon as it was ready (never ran VS2013 Pro after the reboot).

But it still says the file is locked.

  • Some more details. The broken install shows up in Tools & Extensions. I tried to unistall it, but it keeps showing up there.

It also gives me an NuGet error when I try to open a solution.

  • Hi Dr. YSG,

Your issue is related with Visual Studio Setup and Installation. So I moved it to Visual Studio Setup and Installation forum in order to get better response.

    Thank you for your understanding!

    Best regards,

    Sunny

  • Hi Dr.YSG,

Can you share the process list from your task manager? In my mind you can turn off the windows installer service first then trun on it.

If that won't help, please have a try with this tool http://support.microsoft.com/mats/Program_Install_and_Uninstall

By the way,  my Visual Studio 2013 Ultimate installed Nuget Package Manager by default and I know you have problem when accessing Entension and Updates. What's about solve the proxy first then check this problem? I have no idea why you need to install it the second time. In my mind, it should be installed with VS2013 Pro together.
