Visual Studio Community 2017 fails to setup Android SDK Manager on install

    Question

  • I have downloaded VS Community 17 three times now, and every single time it does not install all of the necessary files for Xamarin (at least from my perspective).  I can't run anything in android because I don't have an API installed, and I can't install an API because the SDK manager always shows up blank.  How do I fix this?

    When you do the Xamarin setup, does there any error message show up?

    You could express us more detailed error information or screenshot, so that we could help you analyze.

    For this issue, please try with following steps to troubleshoot:

    1. Run VS installer>Modify>Individual Components , to install and repair all the Xamarin and Android components:

    2. Refer to: Using the Xamarin Android SDK Manager , to install the Xamarin Android SDK Manager, please use the latest Visual Studio 2017 Preview., or directly upgrade your installer to newest version. 

    If the above doesn't help, you'd better use  http://aka.ms/vscollect to gather the installation logs. find vslogs.zip from %temp% folder. Please upload the file to Onedrive and share the link here. I will help you find the root cause according to the log file.
