Submitting defect reports and suggestions

There have been a number of questions about how to submit defect reports and suggestions for SQL Server.  The SQL Server team uses the http://connect.microsoft.com/SQLServer site to gather customer input.  Defects reported on the connect site go directly into our internal issue tracking system so we don't lose any information that customers provide.  The SQL Server team uses defect reports and suggestions from customers to prioritize future work.  Customer issues are given extra weight in our decision making, so filing defect reports and suggestions on the connect site helps us solve the problems you care about sooner.

The procedure for filing an issue on the site is as follows:

1) Navigate to http://connect.microsoft.com/sqlserver
2) Login using your passport account
3) Type in some relevant keywords in the "Search Feedback" box
4) Click the Search button
5) Examine the list of reported issues for the keywords
6) If there is no issue reported yet, click the Submit Feedback button
7) Click the link for "SQL Server Bug Form" or "SQL Server Suggestion Form", whichever seems more appropriate
8) Fill out the form and click "Submit" to enter the data into our issue tracking system

This sticky post needs to be updated to reflect the move to UserVoice / Azure feedback. We users REALLY need clear directions on how to report bugs and issues; the retirement of Connect has caused a lot of confusion and turmoil in the community.

If you go to the old Connect site, you'll be redirected to a page that has information for where to submit issues for SQL Server.  Here is the text:

Effective January 1, 2018, the community feedback feature of the Microsoft Connect site for SQL Server has been replicated in UserVoice for the convenience of the community. We have captured all current/active public feedback for SQL Server that was entered into Microsoft Connect and transferred it into the new forum to help customers find relevant and active matching suggestions.

Yeah...I still agree with NJohnson9402.  These instructions should be updated, rather than scrolling down a number of comments.
