Event Log Security Exception After Installing Visual Studio 2015 Community Edition RRS feed

  • Question

  • So I just installed VS 2015 Community SxS with an existing VS 2013 Professional. Everything appeared to install correctly, however after the installation, when attempting to navigate to a locally hosted ASP.NET application on IIS, I get some sort of security exception related to the event logs:

  • Jiayi,

Thanks for the reply. Ya, it installed fine and turned out to be related to the UnhandledExceptionModule defined in the app's web.config. The specifics I outlined here:

    Thanks again.

  • Hi Nate Greenwood,

To make sure whether your Visual Studio 2015 community is installed successfully, please go to %TEMP% folder, find the log file name like “dd_vs_community_20150727210634”. At the end of the file, check whether the exit code is “0x0”.

If the exit code isn’t “0x0”, it means that your visual studio installed incorrectly, please use  http://aka.ms/vscollect to gather the installation logs. After using it, you will find vslogs.cab from %temp% folder. Please upload the file to https://skydrive.live.com/ and share the link here.

If the exit code is “0x0”, it means that your visual studio is installed successfully, since this forum is about Visual Studio Setup and Installation, and there is no issue about this installation, I doubt it might be related to your ASP.net application, I suggest you consult your issue on this forum: http://forums.asp.net/

    Best Regards,
