How to change the size of the icon on the Windows 10 Start screen. RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello. How to change the size of the icon on the Windows 10 Start screen.

I'm creating an icon for a folder on the Start screen. I remove the text from the icon and only the icon remains. But the icon is small. Is it possible to enlarge it?
There is 1 folder icon in the photo. Here you can see that the icon is small.
Photo 2 shows the MS Edge program icon. It can be seen that the icon is larger.
How do I make my icon the same size as in photo 2? As I understand it, it is necessary to use some kind of xml file, but where can I get it and make any changes to it?

    A large icon:

  • Select the Start  button, select the top or side border, and then drag to your desired size.

If you want to see all your apps, grab the top or side borders of the Start menu and drag them to your desired size.

Finally, if you want to make the Start menu completely full screen, go to Settings  > Personalization > Start, and then turn on Use Start full screen.

    This May Help,
    Peter

  • icon size as such is easy as you would probably know, right click and select size. to make the pic itself within the icon bigger:   you can try looking at icon packs avail on line, or use a photo editor such as GIMP ( free) and pick any image off google etc..    i havnt tried it but Photoshop may also help.  looks like a hdd pic ?

using search, go:  symbolic picture hard drive ,   then  select ""images"", simple case of save as and use as the basis for inserting into your new icon folder.

  • Desktop icons often take up too much screen space, contributing to desktop clutter. Follow these steps to resize desktop icons in Windows 10 and clean up your workspace:

    1. Right-click any blank space on your desktop.
    2. From the menu, select “View,” and choose your desired icon size—large, medium, or small—from the options. The icon size you choose will apply to your desktop immediately after selection.

  • To change the size of the icons on the Windows 10 Start screen, you can use the following steps:

Right-click on the desktop and select "Personalize" from the context menu.

In the left-hand menu, select "Start" and then, in the right-hand pane, click the "Choose which folders appear on Start" link.

In the "Start" settings window, you will see a list of folders that are currently displayed on the Start screen. To change the size of the icons, you can use the drop-down menu next to each folder to select a different size.

Once you have selected the desired icon size for each folder, click "Apply" to save your changes. The new icon sizes will be applied to the Start screen immediately.

I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any other questions.

alternatively you can use third party apps like "Tilelconifier."
note that in some cases, the folder itself might not be resizeable, but you can try to create a shortcut to that folder and change the icon size of the shortcut.
