Scheduled backup doesn't work

    Question

  • Hi,

I'd like to set up the scheduled backup functionality, which is integrated in TFS (TFS 2013 Express Update 2).

The configuration and the following checks ended with no errors, but if I start a backup manually or scheduled, I only get two files in the destination: "BackupSets.xml" and "BackupSettings.xml".

In the log file I could not find any error and at the end of the log you can read Completed TakeFullBackup: Success.

  • Hi Vladimir,

in the meantime, I have upgraded to TFS 2015 Express.

After the upgrade the scheduled backup works without any problems.

    Best regards

  • Hi,

sorry that you are having difficulties with TFS. I would make sure that tfsjobagent service is running on your AT machine. If this is the case, execute the following SQL in the configuration database:

    SELECT TOP 10 JobSource,
            StartTime,
            EndTime,
            Result,
            ResultMessage
    FROM tbl_JobHistory
    WHERE JobId = '94d6120f-b517-4832-a794-b5d0031855cb'
    ORDER BY StartTime DESC

Do you see any rows? If yes, do you see any errors?
    Thanks,
