Is it possible to create a WMP plug-in using Visual C# .NET? RRS feed

  • I tried to find out but anything I found really helps me.

    I want to develop a plug-in for WMP but in C#, if it's not possible I will need to learn C++

  • Yes, it is possible. I wrote a C# api once. I found the development for WMP to be a pain in the ass, especially the support (which support, there is NO support from MS). Tip 1: don't go for WPF. Works great in Win Vista and 7, but major performance issues in Win xp.

    In the end it is just COM, so "pretty easy" to implement a C# implementation. For example, see this codeplex project:

  • Thanks for reply Geert! I went to the link that u told, I was able to build the resulting class library of that code but I donk know how to set it into my WMP...
