Turning off VS 2008 VB Intellisense filtering RRS feed

  • Question

  • I recently moved from coding in VS 2005 (Visual Basic) to VS 2008. VS 2005 used to display entire member or Type lists in Intellisense, but VS 2008 filters them as the characters are being typed.

I need VS 2008 to revert back to VS 2005 intellisense behaviour. Is there a way of doing so, i.e. turning-off Intellisense filtering?? I checked all options of VS 2008, but could not find one.

My development language is VB & occasionally C#. Currently, I am looking for VB specific Intellisense solution but C# solution would be a bonus, as I might need that in future

  • Hi Rahul,

I don't think you can change this behavior through any setting.

There are some workarounds that might help you when you are looking for specific items which have been filtered out:

    • Backspacing once will show the whole, unfiltered list
    • Pressing Ctrl+J should show the whole list, too
