  • Question

  • I have one .net application which crashes.. An unhandled exception of type 'System.IO.FileNotFoundException' occurred in Unknown Module.

I tried to analyze the dump file but I could not find the root cause of the problem.

Can someone help me in this problem analysis?

  • "I tried to analyze the dump": then why don't you post the callstack and the Exception message?

  • Seems we have a different understanding of analyzing a dump file.

  • Can you please suggest any idea or way of analysis, why hsOraInstanceWizard.exe is not starting from above log...

  • I assume that you are trying to debug your own program, and thus have the symbols for the crashing process.
Open the .dmp file either in Visual Studio or in Windbg, then you can see the callstack.
The missing file should be a parameter to the method throwing the FileNotFoundException.
To see the parameters: in Visual Studio: context menu of the callstack has "Show Parameter Values".

In Windbg: load the sos extensions:
    .loadby sos clr
then show the stack objects (may require a full dump to work):
    !dso

I am unable to debug and it is not breaking in Main function so main function is not getting called..

Could not load file or assembly 'libOraInstance.dll' or one of its dependencies. The specified module could not be found.

it is refering to following assemblies..

    libOrainstance

    System

    System.Core

    System.Data

    System.Drawing

    System.Management

    Syste.Windows.Forms

    System.Xml

libOrainstance is my dll it is refering and I observed that it is linking properly..

  • Could not load file or assembly 'libOraInstance.dll' or one of its dependencies
if this is a mixed mode assembly: probably missing a native dll.

  • libOraInstance.dll is managed dll. So it is build with AnyCPU configuration. Can you suggest some analysis how to load this dll.

  • Hi Mrutyunjaya,

    Thank you for posting here.

    >>Could not load file or assembly 'libOraInstance.dll' or one of its dependencies.

The problem seems to be heading in the right direction.

If the native dll is missing, you can install the Visual C++ redistributable package.

However, according to my query, some oracle references require that the project must be built for X64. If your project is built for x86, this may also happen.

I am not sure if this is right for you, you can give it a try.

    Best Regards,

    Timon

  • you should run Fuslogvw.exe (Assembly Binding Log Viewer), enable "Log bind failures to disk" and start your application again. Then press F5 in Fuslovw and examine the errors.

  • Hi,

There is no oracle on my computer for testing.

    You may try it.
