  • Zeus,

you can start looking into using the Visual Studio Installer or MSI to deploy your add-in.  See http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/2kt85ked.aspx or WIX at http://wix.sourceforge.net/tutorial.html

Once you complete your setup package, you can upload your add-in to the VS Gallery.  You can either have the VS Gallery host your setup package, or provide a link that the VS Gallery will link to.

  • Hello,

For a VS add-in, there are two files necessary to deploy.

    1.       The add-in’s DLL file, which contains all the code implement.

    2.        The .Addin file , which configures the add-in to work with the VS IDE. Here is the reference for the registration .addin file: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/19dax6cz.aspx

These two file need to be copied to appropriate paths on the target machine in order to deploy add-ins. This procedure varies depending on your windows version and your Visual Studio Installation paths.

Generally, you need deploy and copy above files into the Add-in installation folder. This folder should be %VSMYDOCUMENTS%\Addins, which can be found at  Tools menu\Option\Add-in/Marcos Security.

    Hope the information helps.
