No debugging of XBAP on Vista X64 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Despite the fact that I'm running Visual Studio 2005 with SP1 and the Vista SP1 Update applied, all the breakpoints in my XBAP are simply ignored! No messages or entries in any event log. I'm running Visual Studio 'As Administrator', but still nothing. I've tried creating an XBAP with a single page and a single button, but still nothing. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated

  • Got the Vista x64 machine patched up to date over the weekend and everything now works perfectly, so it was obviously a Vista glitch that has since been fixed

  • HI Nigel,

I do not believe we supported debugging XBAP's in 2005.  I believe that functionality is coming in 2008 (Orcas).  You can download the Orcas beta here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=17319EB4-299C-43B8-A360-A1C2BD6A421B&displaylang=en#Overview

Hopefully I am understanding you correctly.  If I miss understood please elaborate.

    Thank you,

    Liz

  • I'm certainly keeping across VS2008 (I'll download Beta 2 in the next few days), but I've been successfully debugging XBAP's on VS2005 SP1 on XP SP2 (x86), so I'm a little surprised. Are you saying that there is no XBAP debugging support in VS2005 SP1 when running on Vista x64? My new dev system has 8GB RAM, so I really can't run x86.

  • I have another dev machine with Server 2003 SP1 x64 on it and I can debug XBAP's on that just fine. So is this problem specific to Vista x64?
