tf diff /server

    Question

  • I am using tf diff from command line to compare a local file vs a server file. It gave error "unable to determine workspace".

So I used the /server option like the tf diff documentation said:

    tf diff /server:myserver.com "c:\file.txt" "$/file.txt"

But I got an error "unrecognized command option 'server'". I've used the /server option with other tf command, but somehow doesn't work here. Is the documentation wrong? My TF.exe is located at C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 8\Common7\IDE\TF.exe and has datestamp of 3/10/2006.

  • tf diff does not accept /server.  If you need this feature please open a bug at MS Connect.

  • try putting the /server after the file names, maybe.  But if the file is in an active workspace (for the user/machine combination executing the command) it should auto-detect it.
