When WPF RibbonMenu Window height reduced, Ribbon disapears? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,
I opened a new WPF RibbonMenu project in VS2010 and resized the MainWindow down to just the height of the RibbonMenu...

When I run the app the RibbonMenu has disappeared... increasing the height up a bit restores the RibbonMenu.

Is this bug? OR is there a workaround for it?

My thought is to use the RibbonMenu like a floating ToolBar and then have other windows open from there.

  • There is an open source implementation of the ribbon here: http://fluent.codeplex.com/

If that functionality is not there with a little of work you can change the open source implementation to do what you want.

  • This is standard behavior, it is by desing, try it with word or excel 2010 and you will note similar behavior.

  • Hi Hugo,

Thanks for the comeback... I realize that it could have been by design but I am looking for a possible way around this so I can use the RibbonManu as a floating toolbar.

I had also noted that in OUtlook teh ribbon disapears when teh window is made to small.

Any thoughts on a work around?

  • Hi cici,

Sorry not direct solution... I ended up re-creating the ribbon bar manually which was not fun.  I would have hoped that by now there would be a solution up here.
