  • The general recommendation would be "don't do this". What are you planning to do with this information?

  • Just I need to know as fast as possible if they are installed or not.

In other words: is there a fast way to detect if  Microsoft Visual C++ 20?? x86 and x64 Runtimes are installed?

Don't like check registry due I'm into a web environment.

    Option WMI is extremely slow.

    Option is slower than WMI.

Thanks for your valuable help - Yours, Josep Balague

  • What I have done in the past for a VS2005 product (and I doubt this is foolproof) was to write a small executable that does nothing but depends on the runtime being installed and launch it from a parent program and check to see if ERROR_SXS_CANT_GEN_ACTCTX is returned.
