  • Question

  • Dear all,

Would it be possible to install vs2017 community in commercial place, such as company? We found it's impossible , but if you are in the open source, academic research and classroom learning condition, it can install in commercial place.

  • Hi 雲林仔,

I'm not sure if I can understand your question.

According to "Microsoft Visual Studio Licensing" (you inserted a part of it), it is clearly described:
    ----------------
For all other usage scenarios: In non-enterprise organizations up to 5 users can use Visual Studio Community. In enterprise organizations (meaning those with >250 PCs or > $1M in annual revenue) no use is permitted for employees as well as contractors beyond the open source, academic research and classroom learning environment scenarios described above.
    ----------------

If we are a member of an enterprise organization (that has over 250 PCs or $1M in annual revenue), we cannot use Visual Studio Community. Please read the licensing document again.

  • Hi,

    Welcome to MSDN forum.

Yes, if you are an enterprise, it is impossible to use visual studio community to develop or test your application, but you can use it in:(1) open source; (2)visual studio extensions; (3)device drivers for the windows operating system; (4)education purposes as permitted above.

  • No. If we (our company) have more than 250 PCs, we can NOT use Community edition. Read, please read the document you provided.
