Unable to trigger builds from GitHub PRs between fork/origin RRS feed

  • Question

  • I currently have the following setup:

    - A Build definition with GitHub integration, set to both code change + pull request triggers.
    - Both triggers are set to Include branches "master" and "develop"

On GitHub, creating a PR from a any branch to "master" or "develop" in the same repo will trigger a build just fine. However, if I fork the main repository to my personal account to work on a feature and then create a PR from the fork repo (personal/develop) to the main repo (main/develop), the trigger doesn't work.

Is this scenario supposed to work? If yes, what could be the issue?

Also, is it possible to set the triggers to build on any branch? The UI requires at least 1 "Include" entry. Is there a catch-all value?

  • Building PRs from forks is not supported in VSTS.

You can use wild card * in the include branches to trigger the build on all branches.
Do click on "Mark as Answer" on the post that helps you, this can be beneficial to other community members.
