I am unable to have my Visual Studio activated through MSDN LIcense, How do I resolve this? RRS feed

    Did you meet this error when you update the online license or enter the product key to activate it?

    According to your description, it looks like your account is a MSDN subscription account, right? If so, I recommend you confirm the validation of your account. Please call 1-800-426-9400, Monday through Friday, 6:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. (Pacific Time) to speak directly to a Microsoft licensing specialist, and you can get more detail information from there.

    The error message said “Downloading an online license failed”, please check the internet connection on your computer. Please click “See our current service status” and check the service status, in case the service is temporarily unreached that lead to this error, if so, please try it later.

    Meanwhile, you can try to run the VS with the safe mode, and see if this issue happens or not. Please open an administrative CMD window and navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 11.0\Common7\IDE and run these commands: devenv.exe /safemode

    BTW, what’s your VS edition?

    If this issue still persists, please run the command: devenv /log in the evaluated command prompt if you can, then upload the activity file (%APPDATA%\Microsoft\VisualStudio\Version\ActivityLog.xml) to https://onedrive.live.com/ and share the link here.
