I have a problem with referencing assembilies Microsoft.SqlServer.DTSPipelineWrap, Microsoft.SqlServer.DTSRuntimeWrap, Microsoft.Sqlserver.ManagedDts, Microsoft.SqlServer.PipelineHost.

    My configuration: Windows XP with VS 2010 and BIDS 2008 (only VS 2008 shell, not a full version).

    I don’t have these assemblies in “C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\100\SDK\Assemblies”.

    When I run GACUTIL, they are registered:

    C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 10.0\VC>gacutil -l Microsoft.SqlServer.

    DTSPipelineWrap

    Microsoft (R) .NET Global Assembly Cache Utility.  Version 4.0.30319.1

    Copyright (c) Microsoft Corporation.  All rights reserved.

    The Global Assembly Cache contains the following assemblies:

      Microsoft.SqlServer.DTSPipelineWrap, Version=10.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, Public

    KeyToken=89845dcd8080cc91, processorArchitecture=MSIL

    Number of items = 1

    SSIS works fine on my PC. When I open SSIS component editor, I can see them on the reference list. Following path is displayed:

    C:\WINDOWS\assembly\GAC_MSIL\Microsoft.SqlServer.DTSPipelineWrap\10.0.0.0__89845dcd8080cc91\Microsoft.SqlServer.DTSPipelineWrap.dll

    The only way I found to add these assembles to VS 2010 project is to use this path. It just doesn’t sound right to me, any thoughts?

  • Piotr,

    I think you are fine referring to the full path above in GAC. It is a legit location.

  • Another option is to add following to the project file:

        <Reference Include="Microsoft.SqlServer.DTSPipelineWrap" />
        <Reference Include="Microsoft.SQLServer.DTSRuntimeWrap" />
        <Reference Include="Microsoft.SqlServer.PipelineHost" />
