File System Task, Move Files RRS feed

  • Question

  • Ok, I searched, and looked through a lot of posts on this, tried some different things, but it is not working for me.
    So I don't know what I am doing wrong.
    SSIS 2008
    Permissions on the server folders is not an issue.
    Running from Visual Studio.
    File System Task, Move File
    Error is "Could not find a part of the path."
    using UNC paths.
    Tried Flat File connections, now using variables for both in and out, no differance.
    Copy and Pasted paths from windows into pathin var and pathout var.
    File name gts picked up from for each container, expression puts them together in another var.
    Breakpoint, watch my variables, all looks good, (ok except for double back slashes, but i am guessing that is correct in the debug watch display).

    So what am I doing wrong?

  • I've had some difficulty getting the Move operation to function reliably as well - no idea what causes it to operate differently than the Copy operation.  To get around that issue, I've just used two File System Tasks - one with a Copy, and the other with a Delete operation.  Not what I'd like, but it always works.

  • Does a "copy" operation work?

  • Yes a copy file does seem to work.

    All I did was change the Move File to Copy File.

    So what is that telling me?
