New window opens on Submit instead of reloading the existing parent window. RRS feed

  • Question

  • On clicking save button of child window, the existing parent is supposed to reload.But a new window is coming up with the updated values.

    This works fine in other browsers but in IE we are facing this.

    The customer is using Citrix , and the issue persists only for them.

    Is there anyway we can resolve this issue in IE11 corresponding to Citrix ?

  • Hi Adithya Kolla,

    You only provided some description of the issue.

    We are not able to guess the cause for the issue with only description.

    Citrix is a third party product and we are not aware about how it works.

    If there is any way to reproduce the issue than please try to post your sample code with detailed steps.

    We will try to make a test with it on our side and try to check for the issue.

    Thanks for your understanding.

    Regards

    Deepak

  • We have a customize Hyperlink on our parent page .

    The above mentioned Customize  has the following code written :

    function invokeCustomizePage()
    {
        window.name = "main";
        if( !paCustomizePop || paCustomizePop.closed )
        {
            var dispType;
            if( document.gantt_hist.DispType[ 0 ].checked )
            {
                dispType = "histogram";
            }
            else
            {
                dispType = "spreadsheet";
            }
            var url = App.context + "/action/portfolios/gantt/customize";
            url += "?DispType=" + dispType;
            url += "&objectId=792";
            url += "&mode=Portfolio";

            paCustomizePop=  openPopupWindowAndSaveHandle( url, "GanttCust", 'width=430,height=290');
        }
        paCustomizePop.focus();
    }

    As soon as we click customize, the parent window name is set to "main" .

    Cutomize window opens which has some radio buttons and a dropdown.

    After we modify some value on the customize window, for SAVE , the following code is written ;

    function saveAndClose()
    {
        document.forms[0].method = "POST";
        document.forms[0].action = App.context + "/action/portfolios/gantt/customize";
        document.forms[0].target = "main";
        document.forms[0].submit();
        window.close();
    }

    Now i click on save button , a new window loads with updated values.

    Even though we have the target name as "main" , rather than the existing parent reloading, we are getting a new window with window.name as "main".

    The issue persists only in IE browser , in Citrix environment, and on few Windows 2012 R2 Server machines.

    I am not able to upload images here, i can mail you seperately if you want the screenshots of the applicaiton.

    Thanks,

    Adithya

  • Initially we thought the issue might be the IE 11 subversion , but then after asking the customer to upgrade which they did, we still could face the problem.

  • Hi Adithya Kolla,

    Please try to check IE console to see if there is any error or warning message is there or not.

    It can give some hint regarding this issue.

  • The IE console on parent window doesnot show any error or warnings, the console of customize(child) window closes off, as we are closing the child window as soon as we submit.

  • Hi Adithya Kolla,

    From your above sample code, i can get the idea about what you are doing in your code.

    But I am not able to produce the issue with it.

    If possible for you than can you make a test project and share that project with us?

    We don't require any confidential information or any important data.

    With that sample project, We can try to test the issue on our side and try to find the cause for the issue.

    It can help us to understand the issue in better way.

    Thanks for your understanding.

    Regards

    Deepak

  • Hi Deepak,

    Sorry for the late comeback. As we could not replicate the issue in any of our environemnts itself, giving you the mock project would not give any positive result.

    So, is it possible for someone from your side to join a Webex meeting where we will try to show the issue directly by using our Support team's environment where the issue is reproducible, so that you can get an understanding of the issue and suggest any browser side settings.

    Thanks,

    Adithya

  • Hi Adithya Kolla,

    We are not available with webex. So it will not be possible for reproducing the issue with it.

    If possible than let us know if there is any way to produce the issue without using any 3rd party product.

    Thanks for your understanding.

    Regards
