Track usage of SSAS Tabular Models RRS feed

  • Question

  • We have built SSAS Tabular models that are either used ad-hoc via excel or via SSRS.

I'd like to be able to see who is using the models and how. Mainly need a way to see who is using the Tabular models ad-hoc via excel as I already know how to pull togehter usage information from SSRS log tables for the SSRS reports.

Is there a way to track and obtain usage data for the SSAS Tabular Models?

  • Hi VivDev,

    Thanks for your question.

I would recommend to use ASTrace2012 to track usage of SSAS Tabular Models. The ASTrace utility runs as a Windows service that connects to Analysis Services and logs trace events into a SQL Server table using the SQL Server Profiler format.
