  • Question

  • Hello everyone,

I Hope someone can help me. I'm struggling to install Visual Studio 2015 Community. I'm looking for solutions for several days and I'm just out of energy...

I tried to install VS2015 community via the online installer and with the ISO but I get the same error and I'm totally unable to resolve the problem:

Here is the log error of the installation: (I just post the last lines of the log file where it starts to catch some errors)

  • Hello gms_gigi,

Please navigate to your %temp% folder and search for dd_vs_teamExplorerCore logs from that folder. Upload it to www.OneDrive.com and send the link to me. It may contains more details about the error. The code 0x80070643 just means common error, it is not helpful when troubleshoot your issue.

By the way, have you verified your iso checksum yet? Please make sure you've already used fciv.exe to verify your ISO checksum. Here is the reference link:https://www.visualstudio.com/en-us/downloads/visual-studio-2015-iso-sha1-vs.aspx With the hash value, we will be able to know whether your package is good or corrupt.

    Best regards,

    Barry

  • Hey Barry,

Thank you very much for your response, and finally with your help I think I detected the error. I used fciv.Exe to verify my ISO checksum and indeed it doesn't match the ones on the reference link you gaved me.

    My checksum: a40d5325cd68ca4f4cdc842b1ca4f344 vs2015.com_enu.iso

It should be either french or english but it doesn't match:

    Chinese-Simplified 1044F9F4E0EA1304AFECF6780BF599F1DA248DF8
    Chinese-Traditional FDBA716E9CE9F27E95D48E773E168BEA2143FE13
    German 503D0B7932E3446AC73272870051981F67D26EAD
    English BAAD3CEBAB7A5834D8F78F7D02E4880C010F3BA9
    Spanish 37FBCFDF1B96B145E1AF84447C8F2BBD6195DD55
    French 2A6C0895B80CC3B907B6864AF783491D43F9D00D

    Russian 537D88A9426A50616F5C9A984AE5EF6DD1AC0F25

I can try to download it once again and check it. Or should I wait for Microsoft to update their download section ?

    Regards.

    Guillaume.

  • Hi Guillaume

That is the md5 value. You should use.

     fciv -sha1 filename

  • I'm having the same problem here. I tried both web and iso install.

  • Ok thanks.

I got the same SHA-1 keys. But the installation is still failing.

    I can't locate dd_vs_teamExplorerCore logs. Any ideas ?

    Regards.

  • Piggy backing as I also have this issue.

  • I had the same problem with the online installer. After the TeamExplorer install failure message the installer restarted my machine, and did some stuff on startup. After that i just launched the online installer a 2nd time and it finished installing everything fine. Maybe someone can find this helpful !

  • Have the same issue here with VS2015 Enterprise on Windows 8.1. Both web installer and ISO. Same error, same logs. Restarting didn't resolve the problem.

  • @gms_gigi sorry I'm busy these days,

Here is the error I get

ExecuteError: Package (vs_teamExplorerCore) failed: Error Message Id: 1722 ErrorMessage: There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or package vendor.

Could you please check whether this fix applied to your issue?

vs_teamExplorerCore log should be created under %temp% folder, can you check that it exist there?

    Best regards,

    Barry

  • Hi Barry,

The fix for the issue in the link you provided was with Parallels on MacOSX. The issues reported in this thread are all on Windows 7 and 8.

  • Running chkdsk on my drives and fixing the issues solved the problem, so apparently in my case it was indeed a data corruption issue.

  • I have the same exact issue.  Any fixes for this?  Sounds like it is a MS issue.

  • Hi I am having the same issue.

Here is the error I am getting on my vs_teamExplorerCore.log file

    Property(S): ProductToBeRegistered = 1
    MSI (s) (10:94) [16:21:56:983]: Note: 1: 1708

I have no idea what that means.  Can you assist?  Any help is appreciated.  Thanks!

  • Having the same issue over here.
    Saturday, May 14, 2016 5:16 AM
  • I found a solution for this issue that fixed it for me:

    http://developers-club.com/posts/271809/

    http://stackoverflow.com/questions/33855177/multiple-errors-installing-visual-studio-2015-community-edition/33881460#33881460

The redistributable installer had, as described in the links above, put the 64bit version of vcruntime140.dll at the 32bit location.

This was fixed in the VS2015 Update 2 Redistributables, available here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=51682

After uninstalling the existing redistributables, and installing the Update 2 redistributables, the installation was successful.
