  • Question

  • We have two site primary and DR
Primary have two node (failover cluster instance FCI)
DR have one node (standalone SQL)
we want to implement HA+DR solution using  FCI for Local/Primary site and AlwaysOn High availability group for DR site solution
When we do standalone SQL installation on DR node to its local drive/partition it gives following error

    TITLE: Message Details

The directory T:\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL11.SQLBEPMS_DR\MSSQL\DATA is not a valid path. Standalone SQL Server on WFC cluster cannot have files on shared disk locations.

  • Hello Abdul,

There is a similar thread here - it seems that you have two option - either remove the DR node from the cluster, install the standalone SQL and then re-add the server to the cluster, or use a different disk (that the setup accepts) and later on change/move the paths/system databases.
