URL to run mobile report RRS feed

Answers

  • Hi there,

It is possible to run the mobile reports without the RS Portal Chrome by specifying rsEmbed=true in the querystring.

Example URL: http://myserver/reports/mobilereport/DataSources/Adventureworks Load On Demand?rs:Embed=true

    Hope this helps.

    Cheers,
    CM

  • Hi markgoldin,

In your scenario, what did you mean run mobile reports in the way we run paginated reports? Did you mean run mobile report on report server URL? If so, in current Reporting Service 2016, it is not supported to run mobile report on report server URL. It will give you an error as it is not allowed for mobile reports type item (rsWrongItemType).

So if we want to run mobile reports, currently we have to visit Reporting Service Web Portal. https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/mt637133.aspx

If you still have any questions, please feel free to ask.
    Thanks,
    Xi Jin.

  • Hi markgoldin,

Did you mean you want to embed mobile reports into some custom application by using ReportViewer Control? If so, as I know in current Reporting Service 2016, it is not available to achieve this.

If you still have any questions, please feel free to ask.

    Thanks,

    Xi Jin.

  • I know this post is a little old, but I also have the same question and would like Microsoft to elaborate on the consequence and the implications of this limitation.

By not enabling the mobile reports to load into a report viewer or be embedded/called from another webpage, you are in effect making Mobile Reports purposefully for Internal company use ONLY.  The only way around this limitation is to expose the SSRS 2016 Web Portal to direct query/access from the WAN.  That is incredibly insecure and poor practice!

There has to be some way around this limitation.  I can't genuinely see that DataZen or MS would deliberately limit this product to internal/LAN use only.

My forum post can be found at https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/sqlserver/en-US/bb6cdeb0-0498-40e9-b810-2a0dd65441e7/are-the-mobile-reports-only-intended-for-internal-lan-useusers?forum=sqldatamining
