  • Is it a good practice to install Reporting services on a dedicated box? or can be on the same box as sql server?

Is there a link to download ssrs?

  • Best Practices suggest to install SSRS on its own server to separate it from the report source user databases for easier troubleshooting, administration, and performance. However, SSRS can be installed on the same sql server keeping in mind that SSRS requires processing power, memory, etc., which should be accounted for when the server is built out especially for a busy reporting environment and a busy back-end user database instance.  I do not know of a sole link for SSRS, you would need to install it from the normal install files when you install a new instance (its listed as a feature) when you install it.

  • Hi Sv,

What you mean by " dedicated box "?

It can be installed with SQL Server on the same machine, but if you have large load of report calls or database calls. The two apps would compete for hardware resource. For enterprise performance's sake, we would better rather separate them on different machines.
