    I'm struggling to find any documentation on this.

    Is there a correct procedure for back-out/removal/de-activation of PIM (ie decide not to use after activation, trial license expires etc).

    It is not possible to disable the PIM.  If you have trial license then it will deactivated when the trial end period ends.  If you want to remove a PIM administrator role for a user then you need to remove that user from Privileged Role Administrator Members group.

    I didn't want to risk removing all users from the role as this may make it inaccessible.
