adnl dim attribute - process cube? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Do I need to reprocess cube(s) when I add another attribute to a dimension?

When I think about it I think that I do (it's a structural change),

but I am hoping that it can be somehow avoided because

all dimension members used in historic fact records have value NULL.

And we have cubes that will take a lot of time to be reprocessed.

And we are expecting a request (or more then one) to add attributes.

Is there something else that can save us? Partitions?

  • Hi! A new attribute in a dimension is a structural change since the cube space(coordinates) is determined by the number of attributes in each dimension.

  • Hi Dejan,
It's a good question ! But it seems that the addition of attributes to the Dimensions means that the Reorder of the Member hierarchy should take place. So we go for  full process of the Dimension. and  Cubes are dependant on the Dimensions, so  We need a full process of the Cubes..
