Text Autosizing in SSRS excel render format RRS feed

  • Question

  • How can we achieve text auto-sizing (increase in width of column based on text) in SSRS when exported to excel?

This is possible in HTML format but is it possible to achieve this in Excel format

    Thanks in advance

    Lakshmi

  • Hi Lakshmi Y,

Thank you for the post here.

When exporting text box from Reporting service to Excel, Excel column does not support to auto fit its width to the size of the text. Excel adds a default padding of approximately 3.75 points to the left and right sides of cells. If a text box’s padding settings are less than 3.75 points and is just barely wide enough to accommodate the text, the text may wrap in Excel. To work around this issue, please increase the width of the text box in the report.

Additionally, if you have any concern about this, please submit a feedback at http://connect.microsoft.com/SQLServer/Feedback and hope Microsoft improve this feature in the next service pack or product release.

For more details about the topic, you can see the following article,

    Thanks,
    Eileen
