Can Microsoft PLEASE publish the JDBC driver for SQL Server on Maven Central? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

It would be just jim-dandy if Microsoft could please publish the SQL Server JDBC jar to Maven Central so we don't have to dork with our local repositories to install or use it.  They are already publishing another artifact there -- see

    http://search.maven.org/#artifactdetails%7Ccom.microsoft.windowsazure%7Cmicrosoft-windowsazure-api%7C0.4.0%7Cjar

Can someone who's got the ear of someone on the dev team please explain to them that Maven 2/3 is the de facto standard for transitive dependency management and project builds in the Java world?

    Thanks,

    Matthew

  • Hi matthewadams12,

Maven does not directly support some libraries, like Microsoft’s SQL Server JDBC. This tutorial will show you how to add an external dependency to your local Maven repository. Please refer to the following link about adding Microsoft SQL JDBC driver to Maven:

    Thanks,

  • Any seasoned Java developer knows how to add a jar to their local Maven repo.  That's not what I was requesting.

I'm asking Microsoft to publish the jar to Maven Central so I don't have to go through the inconvenience of installing it in my local repo or any Artifactory, Archiva, or Nexus repo within my organization.
