Answers

  • You can check SQL instance name in many ways

1.Open SQL Server Configuration Manager (SSCM) from Start – > All Programs -> Microsoft SQL Server 2005/2008/2008 R2 -> Configuration Tools.
In the SSCM, click SQL Server Services under SQL Server Configuration Manager (Local), you will find list of services like SQL Server (InstanceName),

    2. Can check from  Start > Run > Services.msc > SQL Server (InstanceName)

  • If you installed SQL Server without instance name, use "dot" other wise use "dot\Instance-Name" like this

    default:

      (local)

      .

    instance:

      (local)\Instance-Name

      .\Instance-Name
