30 day trial license? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am very confused.  It appears that Visual Studio 2015 Community is free to certain people.  I fit into one of those categories of people who can use it free.  But, after 30 days I'm met with a message saying my trial license is expired.  So, does that mean I can use it free for the 30 day trial and then have to pay?  If not, what do I do.  If so, why don't they just say that upfront?

You need to sign in with you Microsoft account, so that you can use it as you'd like to. It is free and it will not expire after signing in.

Please go to Help -> Register Product, click "Sign in", and then follow the steps to sign in.

    Best Regards,

  • I have not experienced this myself but it seems that this is also an issue in the prerelease version too.

A quick search found this thread over at Stackoverflow: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/31537812/license-expired-after-installation-microsoft-visual-studio-2015-community

The solution seems to be to repair the install using an ISO file. The How-To is listed in the final comment.

You can download the ISO file from this address: https://www.visualstudio.com/downloads/download-visual-studio-vs

See the image below for how to download this file on this page.
