How do I install Xamarin for VS2015? RRS feed

I am working with VS2015 Enterprise, and our development team is not in a position to upgrade to 2017. The Xamarin installer is ignoring my VS2015 installation and wants to install 2017 Community Edition. I don't believe that I should be installing Community Edition in the workplace.
Am I able to add Xamarin to VS2015?

! (you wouldn't believe the painful process I had to go thru just to get upgraded to Windows10 so that I could use Xamarin, now I find I am blocked again. Gonna start programming in Python, the way this is all going) !

@LesFerg The Visual Studio installation can be modified to include Xamarin under Control Panel > Programs and Features > [Visual Studio 2015] > Change. Here's a quick guide with additional details. I hope that helps!

Why not install both? I assume if you have a valid VS license you should be able to use VS2017, so why not install them side by side to avoid the upgrade?

Or is it a dumb corporate thing - you must use X but can't use part of it.

"Why not install both?" I know, right? Worse than a corporate thing.... government... I'm already considered to be a cowboy for producing software in the same month they asked for it.
