How to pass the identity (only email address or user id) from SAML Token (custom STS) received by SharePoint 2013 to the SQL Tabular Model to implement row level filtering RRS feed

  • Hi,

    These is our setup:

We're using Windows Azure ACS to generate a SAML token, in the ACS we've defined a custom STS that has database as backend to authenticate any user using their email address (self registration), this STS returns a SAML token 2.0 to ACS, ACS then transforms the token then provide the SAML 1.1 (this is a Non-windows user, no UPN) token to the SharePoint 2013 Front End.

My question is: How to pass the identity of the SharePoint user (user id or user email) to the Power Pivot Model deployed/converted as Tabular Model so it can perform Row Level Filtering/security trimming when report is built on top of it either using PowerView or SSRS Report? The data refesh will be done by backend system and we will have also the Table for userid / email address embedded in the model. So the identity of SharePoint User will not be used to access any resources but only used in the Dynamic Filtering.
