SSRS 2012 Dropdowns Not Working in Edge RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi All,

I am using SSRS reports for asp.net application.  The reports with dropdowns do not work in Edge.  This issue is happening for some users and not others even though they are all using the same version of Edge. When the user selects a value in the dropdown and clicks "View Report" button, the page does nothing.

    Thanks

  • Hi Renee Lee,

Do you mean the reports display nothing to some users although it works well to some other users?

Which version of Edge do they use to view reports? If changing another version, can they view reports successfully?

To those users who came across this issue, do you mean they cannot run some specific reports or all the reports? You said the page does nothing, do you mean the report shows blank page? Is there any error prompt? Please check whether these user accounts have access to data source. And please test whether they can run report successfully if specifying a default value for parameter.

    Thanks,
    Yuliana Gu

  • Edge Version: 38.14393

All users are using the same version of Edge. As long as the report does not have dropdown list for parameter option, the report works for all users.

The issue is with reports that have dropdown list for parameter option.  Even though all users are using the same version of Edge, the report will work for some users and not others.

When the users open the reports in IE or Chrome, the reports work as expected.  The issue only exists in Edge and unfortunately the plan is to have all users upgrade to computers with Windows 10 and Edge.

    Below is a step-by-step

    1. User selects a value in the dropdown
    2. User clicks "View Report" button
    3. The page refreshes but doesn't process request.  No data is returned nor does the "Loading" icon appear.  There are no error messages.

Another odd quirk is that the dropdown is now missing the first value in the list and defaults to the second value. Clicking the "View Report" button again appears to do nothing.

    Thanks

  • Hi Renee Lee,

This might be a browser compatibility issue. Please try below workarounds:

    • Open the IE11 browser
    • Press F12 – which would open a developer tool at the bottom of the browser
    • Click "Emulation" tab
    • Change the "Document mode" to "Edge", you can refer to the below image.

Optionally, you can modify the meta tag from <meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=5"> to <meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=Edge"> in reportviewer.aspx file.

Reference: SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) is not compatible with Internet Explorer 11

    Thanks,
    Yuliana Gu

  • Hi Yuliana,

The reports run fine in IE11.  The issue is in Windows 10 with Edge.  Also the issue doesn't happen with all users with Edge so I have a suspicion that there is a configuration causing this behavior.

After doing more research I did find another person having this problem:

    http://dba.stackexchange.com/questions/161380/odd-behavior-with-ssrs-2016-drop-down-parameter-list/161388?noredirect=1#comment310643_161388

It appears to be a confirmed bug with Edge and Microsoft is working on it:

    Thanks,
