ODP.NET Issue: "Could not create a managed connection manager.". RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am trying to set up ODP.NET connection to an Oracle database.

Downloaded "ODAC for Visual Studio 2017" and installed, connection tested ok under ADO.NET configuration.

When I use the connection for ADO.NET source, data preview looks good.

When I try to execute the task, it through an error:

"[ADO NET Source [27]] Error: ADO NET Source has failed to acquire the connection {96EECE8B-A608-49D1-8062-D94F9943B50D} with the following error message: "Could not create a managed connection manager."."

I tried to change the project properties "Run64BitRuntime" to be false as other suggested, no luck.

Also tried "OracleClient Data Provider", it gave me below error, tried install 32 bit and 64 bit Oracle client, no luck:

"Test connection failed because of an error in initializing provider. Attempt to load Oracle client libraries threw BadImageFormatException.  This problem will occur when running in 64 bit mode with the 32 bit Oracle client components installed."

My system is VS 2017 Community with SSDT, working fine with SQL server data.

Searched online, found some related topics and tried all the solutions they mentioned, could not fix it.

    Can someone help on it?

    Bo
