SSRS Mobile Reports - Server Configuration for External Access and URL RRS feed

  • Question

  • How do we configure the SSRS Server to serve the mobile reports - new to v 2016 and the mobile device reporting, and want to be certain the server is configured appropriately, and then what URL is used to access the reports from a mobile device.

  • Hi vsla,

In SSRS 2016, mobile reports as a new feature is added to it. You only need to install SSRS2016 and configure the report server URL and Web Portal (Report Manager) URL correctly, and download SQL Server Mobile Report Publisher, then you can create mobile reports directly and save it to report server.

In order to view mobile reports from web portal on our mobile device. We need to install a Power BI mobile app on our mobile device. For more details, please refer: Introducing mobile reports and a brand-new web portal

From your description, you want to configure the SSRS2016 server to support external connections, right? However, as I know it doesn't support external access to report server via Power BI app. You should be aware that mobile apps support both Basic and NTLM authentication for Reporting Services and you need to be either connected to your company intranet or have a way to expose that server to the public internet.

Access SSRS 2016 mobile report from IOS Power BI app

If you have any question, please feel free to ask.

    Best regards,
    Yuliana Gu
