  • Hi George,

What I can say is that there are some KB's which are internal to Microsoft so might be this issue (mentioned in KB 832674 listed into it).

  • This document explains an extremely rare and old problem.  Are you actually having a problem related to memory?  If so, it is most likely related to not setting the max memory setting.  Please see:

  • What exactly is the problem you are having?  Your previous posts did not include any error message or any information.

This is most likely a VAS issue, not a "memory" issue.  Please see this on diagnosing VAS issues:

  • yes, it is believed a VAS issue, the problem is:

    server configure: Prod: 6GB physical memory, max server memory 4GB, W2K3 Enterprise, SQL 2000 sp4 EE, /PAE AWE enabled, no -g no /3GB; Test: 8GB physical, max 4GB(tried 2, 4,6), W2K3 Sp2 Ent, SQL2000 sp4 EE, -g620, /PAE AWE enable, no /3GB

    sympotems:

    1. backup fails, sometimes full backup sometimes tlog, error: "error 701, insufficient memory.." but can backup if specify maxtransfersize and or buffercount

    2. a application cannot run bulkimport operation

    3. sometimes cannot connect to server, getting error : "a connection cannot be established to (local), Reason, login failed for user (null)", but after a few hours, connections back working,

    4. when run a job in sql agent, get Error 22022: unable to post notification to SQLServerAgent (reason: MapViewOfFile() returned error 8, 'Not enough storage is available to process this command.')

    5. error in log:  WARNING: Failed to reserve contiguous memory of Size= 131072.

    6. sqldump file shows available VAS in prod and test server only has 6MB and 7MB

7.memmonitor sqlservr, pages faults increase 1 every second, workingsetsize increase tiny.
